CADB Post: Happy Turkey Day!

Well, maybe not quite yet...lol! This weeks theme at the Card A Day Blog is Thanksgiving. Here is my entry for this theme.

To make my card, I first printed out my image, this cute little turkey, and one of the sentiments that comes with the set, from McMahon Five Designs.com. I cut it down to about 3 x 3.75 inches, then colored it with Copic markers, E57, E35 and E33, for the head and body, YR16, YR61, YR20, For the lower part of the feathers, and R06, and Spectrum Noir marker,  CT3 for the top of the wings. I also inked the edges using Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Tea Dye.

For my card base, I used a 5.5" x 4.25" white card, then added a piece of the striped patterned paper from the DCWV Rustic paper pack, cut to 5.25" x 4" on the top of the front, and to that, I added a medium gold piece from the same paper pack, cut to a little smaller than my bottom piece, but before I adhered it, I attached a piece of ribbon that I had in my stash along the bottom. I then added my image above the ribbon.

CADB: Patchwork Reindeer

It's time again for another Card A Day Blog entry, and this week's theme is Christmas Animals. I thought this cute little patchwork reindeer, from Clear Dollar Stamps, was just adorable, and I'm sure you'll agree.

For my patterned background paper, I used the diagonal blue and white striped paper from the DCWV Christmas Ultimate Scrapbook Kit in a Stack, that I purchased a few years ago, so I'm not sure if it's still available anymore. I cut that piece at 5.25 x 4". I also used a dark blue with snowflakes patterned paper from the same pack, cut to 4.5" x 3.5", and used it to mat my image and ribbon.

For my image, I printed my image at about 2" x 3", on a piece of white card stock, then trimmed it fairly close to the image. I then colored the image with my Copic markers, BV00, YG41, B23 and B12. I adhered the image to the left side of the mat.

On the right side of the mat, I cut a piece of light blue card stock paper at 1" x 3.5", added a piece of white card stock, cut slightly smaller than the blue piece, adhered that piece to the blue piece then adhered both to the right side of the mat. I added a piece of light blue diamond patterned ribbon, from Really Reasonable Ribbon, with wedges cut on the ends, and added a piece of rick-rack to the middle of that. On the inside of the card, I stamped, " Merry Christmas" from one of the stamps I have in my stash.

Card A Day Blog Post: Trick or Treat

Hi everyone, thanks for stopping by. It's time again for another Card A Day Blog post. This week's theme is Halloween. Here is the card that I conjured up for the occasion.

To make my card, I started with a 5.50" x 4.25" white card base. For my background paper, I chose the Halloween candy print paper from the K & Company 4.75" x 6.75" Halloween paper pad cut just slightly smaller than my card base. I then added a black piece of card stock cut to 3.75" x 5", that was embossed with the Cuttlebug swirl folder and my Cuttlebug. I then embossed the spider web corner stamp from the Inkadinkado clear stamps All Hallow's Eve stamps set with my versamark embossing pad, on black card stock using white embossing powder, cut it out, and adhered it to the corner of the black embossed piece using dimensional tape.

For my sentement, I used the Trick or Treat stamp from the same stamp set, and embossed it with black embossing powder, on a piece of purple card stock cut out with the Spellbinders Die set, labels eighteen, using the middle sized die. I inked the edges with black ink, then attacked it to my card using dimensional tape. 

To add a little more scary to my card, I added three little, more cute than spooky ghosts, from the Stickety-Doo-Da Halloween sticker set.

Card A Day Blog Post: Autumn Greetings

Hi everyone, it's hard to believe fall is almost here. It seems like it wasn't that long ago that school got out, and we were looking forward to a relaxing summer break.

Today, for my post at the Card A Day Blog, I have a card that I made to send in my next shipment to Operation Write Home.

To make my card, I started off with a 5.5" x 4.25" white card base. For my background paper, I embossed a piece of medium brown card stock paper with the pumpkins Cuttlebug embossing folder that was cut to 5.25" x 4", rounded off the opposite corners with my corner rounder, and adhered it to the front of my card base.

For my image and greeting I used a medium brown ink pad, the pumpkin vine and the autumn greetings stamps from the Inkadinkado clear stamp set, Autumn Foliage, and stamped them on a piece of white card stock, cut at 3.75" x 3". I colored the pumpkin and blooms with different shades of orange and yellow. Then I inked the edges with orange ink. Sorry if I wasn't specific about some of the supplies I used, but I made this card a while back, and can't remember some of them.

Before I attacked my image to my card base, I cut three pieces of brown velvet ribbon that is edged with gold stitching, cut it at about 2", then cut a "V" at the ends, then adhered them to the right side of the image. I then added that piece to my embossed card front.

CADB Post: Embossing

Hi there, and thanks for stopping by. It's time again for another post for me at the Card A Day Blog. This week's theme is embossing, and here is the card I made following that theme.

I was making a tag album, and I was using Tim Holtz Distress Ink, various stamps from my collection, and embossing powder to make all my tags, and I thought, this would be great for a card, and since this week's theme was embossing, I decided I would use the same supplies for my card, that I used for my tag album.

To make my card, I started off with a 5.50" x 4.25" white card base. I then cut a piece of white card stock, cut to 5.25" x 4", and with the Tim Holtz Distress Ink pad, Festive Berries, I decided to stamp the words Happy Birthday on the bottom of the card stock piece, since I needed a birthday card to send to someone. With the same stamp pad, I stamped the bird images on the upper part of the the white card stock piece, sprinkled them with clear embossing powder, then heat set the images. Then using a makeup sponge, I inked over the images. To finish off my card, I added a piece of red checkered ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon, across the top piece just above the sentiment.

CADB Post: Die Cuts

Hi everyone! It's the end of summer break, and I'm getting ready to go  back to work, and the kids are getting ready to go back to school. Wow, how the summer just seems to fly by way too quickly, even though we had over ten weeks off. Today we will be getting in one last outing, which will be a trip to the movies, before we go back in a couple of days.

Anyway, getting to the topic at hand, my card for this week's them at Card A Day Blog, die cuts. Here is the card I made.

I started off with a 5.5" x 4.25" white card base. I then added a dark blue piece of card stock cut to 5.25" x 4", rounded the corners, then embossed it with the Victoria Cuttlebug folder. For my next layer, on a piece of white card stock, cut slightly smaller then the blue piece, I cut a window in the middle using the next to the largest die from the Spellbinders Labels Eighteen die set, rounded the corners, then embossed it with the same Cuttlebug folder. On the inside of the window, I adhered white lace seam binding on the back side, then attached that piece to the top of the blue paper.

For the butterfly embellishment I used the smallest butterfly dies from the Spellbinders die set,  Les Papillions Two. I cut the bottom layer out of the same blue card stock that I used on my card, and white for the top layer. I added a rhinestone to the middle of the butterfly, then added it to my card.

CADB Post: Designer's Choice

Hi everyone, it's time again for me to post to the Card A Day Blog. This week we are able to create a card using a theme of our own choosing. I decided to post one of the cards that I made using stamps from a stamp set that I just recently purchased, from The Stamps Of Life, Pinwheels 2 Stamp. When I saw this stamp set, I decided I just had to have it...lol!

To make my card, I started with a 5.5" x 4.25" white card base. For my base layer, I cut a piece of purple chevron paper from the Recollections Chevron paper pack, cut to 5.25" x 4", then added it to the top of my card base. For the mat for my stamped image, I cut a piece of light green card stock, cut to 4.5 x 3.5, added a piece of white card stock cut to 4" x 3", inked the edges with green ink, adhered that piece to the top of the green one, then placed it on top of the chevron paper at an angle.

For my sentiment, I used the " Have A Spintastic Day!" stamp that was included in the Pinwheels 2 Stamp set, stamped on a piece of white card stock cut it to fit, then added that on top of a light purple mat cut just a bit larger then my sentiment. I added a piece of green polka dot ribbon to the left side, then attached that to the mat.

Now comes the fun part, the pinwheel. I had so much fun making these. I stamped the large pinwheel using black ink, then used the corresponding triangle stamps to stamp the patterns on the pinwheel using purple and orange ink. I then did the same with the smaller pinwheel. I cut my pinwheels out, layered the small one on top of the large one, then added a purple brad to the middle. I then added the pinwheel to the mat at an angle using dimensional tape.

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I made my pinwheel card. I think this had to be one of the most fun cards I have made so far. I could see using this stamp set for many different occasions just by changing the colors.
