My Favorite Things Summer School: Ombre

This is the last day of this MFT Summer school for this session, and the assignment this time is to create something using the ombre techneque.

I started my card by heat embossing images using white embossing powder and some stamps that I had in my stash, then created the ombre effect using three different Distress Oxide colors, Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry, and Candied Apple.  I didn't add a sentiment to it because I'm not sure what I want to use it for yet. I know my techneque needs a little more practice, and it all looks a little smoother in person, without as much blotchiness, but I like the way it turned out, and that is what these challenges are all about, to learn a little something.

I hope you enjoyed checking out my creations for this challenge as much as I enjoyed creating them. I'll see you when I post my next project.

MY Favorite Things Summer School Session 2: Rainbows

Hi there, it's time for another assignment at the MFT Summer Camp. This one is to create a project using a rainbow pattern.

For my card, I used a panel that was from a project that I did a while back. I had made a larger rainbow panel using strips of colored card stock glued to a white piece of card stock, then cut that one up into different sized pieces for what I needed. I had some of these pieces left, so I thought I would use one of them for this project.

To start with, I used a die with stars on it from Memory Box, I can't remember what it was called because I don't have the packaging, but even individual star dies would do. I used the die on a blue piece of card stock, then adhered the rainbow panel under the cut out portion. I added a Happy Birthday cut out that I made from another die I had on hand, and added that to the panel. You might not see it on the screen, but I added some clear Wink of Stella on the Happy Birthday to add some sparkle.

Thanks for stopping by, and I'll see you for the next assignment.

My Favorite Things Summer School: Visual Triangle

For today's assignment at this MFT Summer School session, we are to create a project using a visual triangle.

I chose to make my visual triangle as a cluster, using three images from the Ink on 3 Magic Dragons stamp set. I colored them with Copic markers and placed them on a stamped background using the gem stamps from the same stamp set. I just love this little guy.

I hope you enjoyed checking out my project, and I'll see you for the next assignment.

My Favorite Things Summer School : Focal Point

Today's assignment at the MFT Summer School is focal point, focusing on the main element of the project. Here is my project.

I really liked the technique that Karolyn used on her project, masking the area behind where her subjects would be and inking only inside the mask stencil. I didn't have the masking sheets that she used in the video, so I decided to try clear contact paper, and it seemed to work just fine. The images I used are from a Hampton Arts by Mama Elephant stamp set. For some reason I can't find the name on the packaging.but it is a stamp and die set with unicorns, rainbow, and a castle and such. I cut the images out with the dies provided, colored them with Copic markers, and layered them on the inked part using foam tape on the unicorn for dimension. I used the greeting stamp that came with the set.

Thank you for stopping by, and I'll see you for the next assignment.

My Favorite Things Summer School Session 2: Monocromatic

Hello, for the assignment for the first day of this session is to make a project that is monochromatic, The color I chose is blue.

I decided to use a star background die that I had and used a centement out of one of the stamp sets I had in my stash, and inked it with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Ink. I inked the background of the my sentiment panel with the same ink that I used for my background, but it's hard to see in the pictures. I added some of the stars from the cutouts from the die, and added them to the panel. You can't see it in the picture, but I put Wink of Stella on the white stars, and on the cutouts that I added to my sentiment. Now on to the next day's assignment...:-)
