Card A Day Blog Post: Die Cuts

Hi everyone, it's time again for me to post another card to the Card A Day Blog. I will be starting off the week with the theme, " Die Cuts". My inspiration for this card came from the Spellbinders Grand Shapabilities dies, Wonderful Wings.

To make my card, I first started off with a 5.5"x4.25" white card base. I added a 5.25"x4" piece of designer paper from the Die Cut With A View paper stack, Pocket Full Of Posies, and added it to the top of my card base. I then added a piece of patterned paper from the same stack, cut to 5.25" x1.5", matted it on a 5.25" x 2" piece of purple card stock, and adhered it to the middle of my card front.

Now for the die cut part, I chose to use one of the butterflies in the Spellbinders Grand Shapabilities, Wonderful Wings set. I decided to use one of the smallest butterflies in the set. I cut and embossed the bottom of the butterfly with a dark purple card stock, then cut and embossed the top part of the butterfly using a medium purple card stock, then adhered that to the top of the first piece. I then attached that to the left of the matted strip that I added to the middle of the card.

As usual, I decided it needed a little sparkle, lol, so I added some dots of Viva Decor, Holo Iridescent Glitter Liner, which added a little "bling" to my butterfly. To finish off my card, I stamped a " hello" directly on the patterned paper using one of the stamps I have in my collection, to the right bottom corner.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed checking out my newest creation as much as I did making it, and if you would like, please leave me a comment and let me know what you think about it. Also, don't forget to enter our monthly challenge for a chance to win a prize!

Mini Dresser: A Lil Scrap Of Heaven Swap

Hi everyone, I'm here with my latest swap item that I made for the Mini Dresser Swap, at A Lil Scrap Of Heaven, that was hosted by Cynthialoowho. I made a video with a simple explanation on how I made it, and what I used to decorate it with. When viewing it, please keep in mind, I am not a professional..lol, it was recorded with on my iphone, and my cameraman/directer was my nine year old grandson, Ozzy...:-) You  will hear him asking a couple of questions in the background. I think he did a very good job for what he had to work with, and had a couple of good points that he brought up that I should mention...:-)

I would really love to hear what you think of my latest project, so if you have a chance, please leave me a comment, and I'm sure Ozzy would like to hear what you think of his cameraman/director debut...:-)

Card A Day Blog Post: Monochromatic Theme

I everyone! Wow, is it that time again so soon? I can't believe the summer is going too fast! This weeks theme on the Card A Day Blog is, monochromatic. My two favorite colors are blue and purple, and so for my card I chose purple.

To make my card, I chose three different shades of solid purple card stock, made a 5.5" x 4.25" white card base, and with the lightest purple cardstock, I embossed a 5.25" x 4" piece with my Cuttlebug and the Cuttlebug embossing folder, Victoria, and adhered that to the front of my card base.

To embellish my card, I chose to use die cuts from the Spellbinders Shapeabilities set, Moroccan Accents. With the darkest purple card stock, I cut and embossed the circular medallion piece, and two of the corner pieces, adhering the medallion in the middle of the card, and the corner pieces on the top right corner, and the bottom left corner of my card. I then made the piece to add to the top of the medallion with the label die with the mid toned purple. For the middle of the tag, I used a purple paper flower that I had on hand, and a smaller lighter paper flower on top of that. For the very middle, I chose to use a purple rhinestone.

I really was pleased with how this card turned out. I am sending it to my partner from the mini dresser swap that I am in at A Lil Scrap of Heaven , which I will post the video of after she receives it. I don't want to spoil the surprise...:-)

If you can, please leave me a comment, because I really love hearing what you think about my projects. Don't forget to stop by the Card A Day Blog each day for more card ideas from all the other designers, and be sure to check out our monthly challenge, where one lucky winner will win a great prize!

Card A Day Blog Post: Just For Men

This weeks theme for The Card A Day Blog is, "Just For Men," and this is my card that I created. This card will probably find it's way in the box of Operation Write Home cards that I will be sending off soon.

My card was based on a stamp I had from Inkadinkado. Here is how I put it all together.

First I started off with a white 5.5"x4.25" card base. I then added a piece of 5.25"x4" patterned paper from the "The Guy Stack", from "Die Cuts With A View." I wrapped a piece of brown and white baker's twine from one side to the other four times, then spread them apart as seen on the picture, then adhering the ends to the back of the patterned paper.

On a piece of 1" x 4" dark brown cardstock, I stamped my gears stamp with Versamark, and then used gold embossing powder, applied heat with my heat gun to emboss it. I then adhered that to a piece of 1.25" x 4.25"  medium brown cardstock. I then attacked that to the left hand side of my card over the baker's twine using dimensional tape.

To add a little more to my card I added a metal wheel brad to the right of my gear panel on top of where the baker's twine cross.

I didn't notice this until I went to post this, but I seemed to have used the same patterned paper and baker's twine that I used on the card for my previous post...lol! I really do like that paper...:-)

I hope you enjoyed my newest creation, and if you would like, please leave me comment. As always, they are truly appreciated. Make sure to enter the monthly challenge on the Card A Day Blog for a chance to win a prize.
