Card A Day Blog Post: Christmas Ornaments

It's my turn again to post to the Card A Day Blog, this weeks theme is Christmas ornaments. Here is the card that I made for my post.

To make my card, I started off with a 5.5" x 4.25" white card base, then added a piece of green card stock  paper cut to 5.25" x 4" to the front of the card. I then added a piece of patterned paper cut to 3.50 x 5.25 to the top of the card stock. 

For my ornament, I cut out the pieces using my Cricut, and the Sure Cuts A Lot program. The file for the ornament came from the Merriment collection, from Lettering Delights. I cut my pieces out of red, green and yellow card stock, then glued them together. To embellish my ornament, I used Thin Lines Dazzles, Red Jewel Sticker Dazzles, and Green Jewel Dazzles,  from Paper Wishes. I adhered the ornament to the left side of my card front. For a little extra sparkle, I added 3 Red Jewel Dazzles to the right side. On the inside, I stamped " Merry Christmas " in green ink.

Mojo Monday 266 Contest

One of my favorite places for inspiration, and some really great card sketches is Mojo Monday. This week I have decided to enter a card of my own, using the sketch for this week.

I needed a card to send for a fellow group member's birthday, so I decided I would make a birthday card for her and use that for my entry.

The papers I used were from Colorbok, the circle die cut was from the Spellbinders Lacy Circles set, the flowers are from Prima, and the sentiment is from the Verve Stamps stamp set, Circular Sayings.

Card A Day Blog: Christmas gift cards

Wow, it's hard to believe it's that time again. It's only the beginning of November, and they are already playing Christmas music at the mall...lol! I guess that's one way of getting ready for some Christmas creating, and here is another, my latest entry for the Card A Day Blog. This week's theme is , Christmas gift cards.

Here is the outside of my card,

To make my card, I started off with a 5.5" x 4.25" white card base, then added a piece of patterned paper cut to 5.25" x 4" to the front of the card. I then cut out and embossed a mat frame with my Cuttlebug, and the largest die from the Spellbinders Nestabilities set, Floral Ovals, using red card stock. I wanted to add a little something to the edges, so instead of inking the edges, I decided to try embossing the edges with some red Zing glitter embossing powder, to add some shine to the edges. To do this, I pressed the edges of my die cut piece onto my Versamark pad, then sprinkled it with the glitter embossing powder, then heat set it. I then adhered that piece to the top of my patterned paper.

For the trees, I chose two of the tree stamps from the Just Rite Clear stamp set, O Christmas Tree, I stamped two of one stamp, and one of the other with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and colored them with Copic Markers. For the gold trim on the trees, I used some of the border stickers from the Dazzles set, Gold Butterfly Dazzles. For the star on the middle tree, I embossed one of the stars from that same stamp set, added a dot of silver Viva Decor glitter liner to the middle of it, and glued it to the top of the tree. 

I placed the two trees that are the same, one on each side of my mat, then added the middle tree just a little lower than the outer trees, and adhered it with dimensional tape to raise it up a bit more than the other trees.

Now, for the inside of my card. I don't know where I got this idea from, but I know I saw it on another blog, that I lost track of when I wanted to make another card a while back that I wanted to add a gift card to, and I wanted to use the technique, so I had to go off what I could remember. So this is my version of it. I cut out two pieces of white copy paper, 5.5" x 5.25", and using my Scor Buddy,  I placed my paper with the 5.5" length going across, and scored one end at 1.5". I did this with both pieces of paper. I added adhesive to the sides of one of the 1.5" scored sections, and matched it up with the other piece, and stuck them together, leaving the inside open, so a gift card can be slipped inside. I then attached the two attached pieces to the inside of the card so that the gift card flap is on the fold. I then stamped my greeting on the bottom side of the inside of the card.

Card A Day Blog: Thanksgiving

It's time again for me to make another post on the Card A Day Blog, and this week's theme is, Thanksgiving.  So I pulled out my Thanksgiving and autumn stamps, and found one I thought would be fitting. The particular image I chose is from a stamp set I just recently purchased on a shopping trip, it's from the Inkadinkado set, Autumn Foliage. I chose my favorite stamp out of this set, the pumpkin on a vine, which is the main reasons I purchased the set.

To start with, I cut and folded a 5.5" x 4.25" card base. I then cut out a piece of acorn and leaves patterned paper from the DCWV Paper stack, Amber Autumn, cut to 5.25" x 4", then I matted it with a piece of dark brown cardstock, cut to just slightly larger than the patterned paper, and adhered that to the card base.

Next, I stamped my image from the autumn stamp set on white cardstock  using a versamark clear embossing pad, sprinkled some gold embossing powder on it, then after pouring off the excess powder, I heat set it with my heat gun. I then cut around the image, leaving a bit of white edge around it. I placed the embossed image on a mat that I made with the second to the last die from the Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles die set, that had the edges inked with the Tim Holtz Aged Mahogany Distress Ink. I also inked my embossed image with the same ink. I then attached the matt and image in the middle of the card.

I don't have a stamp that says Happy Thanksgiving, so I typed the words out on my computer with a brown font color on white cardstock, cut around it, inked it with the same Tim Holz ink, and adhered it to the top left side of the mat.

As in a lot of my creations, I wanted to finish off my card by adding a little bling, so I took out my box of Viva Decor, and with the gold glitter liner, I put a dot on each corner of the sentiment  and a dot in the middle of each of the blooms on the image.

Card A Day Blog Post: Christmas Animals

Hi everyone, here is my latest card I created for the Card A Day Blog. This week's theme is Christmas Animals. I chose this cute little reindeer, titled, Funny Little Reindeer, from Mcmahon Five. This card will be going into the box with the Operation Write Home cards that I will be sending out soon.

To make my card, I started off with a 5.5"x 4.25" white card base. For the background paper, I used the mittens printed paper from the Jolly Holiday paper pack from Recollections, cut to 5.25" x 4", and adhered that to the front of my card base. For the striped paper panel, I cut a piece of the solid purple cardstock from the same paper pack to 3.25" x 2.5", then cut out a piece of the diagonal striped paper at 3" x 2.25", and adhered that on top of the solid purple piece, the attached that to the middle right of the card base. 

For my image, I printed up the reindeer image at about 2.25" x 3" and colored it with Copic Markers, E35, E33, and E53 for the reindeer, G14 for the coller, Y08 for the bell and stars, and R27 for his nose. I adhered  the image to a piece of green cardstock, also from the same collection, cut slightly larger than the image, then attached that to the left end of my striped piece.

For my sentiment,  I stamped the words " Merry Christmas" with one of the clear stamps I had on hand on white cardstock, and cut a piece of the green cardstock just a bit larger and added the sentiment on top of that. I attached that to the striped panel with dimensional tape.

To finish off my card, I dotted some silver Viva Decor Glitter Liner on the stars, and randomly around the image, and on the corners of my sentiment.

Mojo Monday Entry #261

Hello everyone! I have been busy making cards for Operation Write Home, and one of the places I like to go to for some great inspiration is Mojo Monday. Here is the sketch for this week.

For my card I used the next to the largest die from the Spellbinders Die set, Lacy Circles, the lace is from Really Reasonable Ribbon, and the pennant is from the Spellbinders Nested Lacey Pennants set. My image is the Reindeer Cameo stamp set from Inkadinkado. I stamped the image on a piece of red cardstock using a clear embossing ink pad, and then added black embossing powder, then I heat set it with my heat gun. I cut around the edges of the image, and placed it on top of the die cut circle.

Card A Day Blog Entry: Christmas

Christmas Snowman:

Hi everyone, it's time again for another entry for the Card A Day Blog. This weeks theme is Christmas, and here is the card that I made.

Since I will probably be sending this card to Operation Write Home, I started off with a 5.5" x 4.25" white card base. For my background paper I cut a 5.25" x 4" piece of holly patterned designer paper, and adhered it to the front of my card base.

For the holly panel, I used the Artistic brayer Stamping set, Holly Sprigs, from Inkadinkado. I inked up the roller with Memento Cottage Ivy ink, and rolled it over a white piece of card stock. I cut out one of the panels, adhered it to the top left corner of my card, then added little dots of ruby Viva Decor Glitter Liner, where the holly berries are on the image to give it a sparkly raised berry effect.

I wanted to add an image, and I found in some of my leftover stamped images, a snowman that I had stamped from the JustRite stamp set, Holiday Cheer, and colored with Copic markers, from last year that I never used. I had punched the image out using the next to the smallest Lacy Circles die, form Spellbinders. I inked the edges with red ink, then attached it to the corner of my holly stamped image.
