My Favorite Things Summer School : Focal Point

Today's assignment at the MFT Summer School is focal point, focusing on the main element of the project. Here is my project.

I really liked the technique that Karolyn used on her project, masking the area behind where her subjects would be and inking only inside the mask stencil. I didn't have the masking sheets that she used in the video, so I decided to try clear contact paper, and it seemed to work just fine. The images I used are from a Hampton Arts by Mama Elephant stamp set. For some reason I can't find the name on the packaging.but it is a stamp and die set with unicorns, rainbow, and a castle and such. I cut the images out with the dies provided, colored them with Copic markers, and layered them on the inked part using foam tape on the unicorn for dimension. I used the greeting stamp that came with the set.

Thank you for stopping by, and I'll see you for the next assignment.

My Favorite Things Summer School Session 2: Monocromatic

Hello, for the assignment for the first day of this session is to make a project that is monochromatic, The color I chose is blue.

I decided to use a star background die that I had and used a centement out of one of the stamp sets I had in my stash, and inked it with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Ink. I inked the background of the my sentiment panel with the same ink that I used for my background, but it's hard to see in the pictures. I added some of the stars from the cutouts from the die, and added them to the panel. You can't see it in the picture, but I put Wink of Stella on the white stars, and on the cutouts that I added to my sentiment. Now on to the next day's assignment...:-)

My Favorite Things Summer School: White Space

Ok, I know, I'm a little out of order on this one. I missed the assignment that was on Sunday, and thought it started with Monday, and didn't realize until today that I missed it, so, here is assignment that I missed.

This assignment was to use white space on our project. I chose to use images from the MFT's Magical Dragons for my creation, which I colored with Copic markers. I embossed the white background with a cloud embossing folder, and made the hills using the Stitched Hillside Borders dies from Lawn Fawn, and embossed them with a dot embossing folder to add some texture. I didn't have a banner die to fit the sentiment like I wanted, so I cut a strip from white card stock, then made a fishtail with scissors, stamped the sentiment which is from the same stamp set, inked the edges, then adhered it to my card.

My Favorite Things Summer School: Symmetry

This is the last day of this session, and today's assignment is to create a card using the symmetry concept.

The images I chose where from a Recollections stamp set. I thought these feathers would be perfect for what I wanted to do, and even the sentiment was from the same set.   I really had  a good time doing all the assignments, although, I did miss the first one some how, so now I'll have a bit of makeup work to do. Sounds a bit like real school..lol!

MFT Summer School: Complementary Colors

Good afternoon, it's another day, and another homework assignment from MFT. Today's assignment is to use complementary colors in our project.

I decided to use some tiny background stamps that I had from Hero Arts, stamped in blue and orange. For my sentiment, I cut rectangles in white and blue from the My Favorite Things Inside and Out rectangle die set and stamped my greeting, which is from a Recollections stamp set, in orange on the white rectangle, then adhered them on the background piece. I may decide later to add something else to the card, maybe a little bling, but not sure what I want to add to it, but for now, this is what I have.

See you tomorrow with the next homework assignment...:-)

My Favorite Things Summer School : Repetition

Good afternoon, here I am with another homework assignment from MFT. Today's assignment is to use repetition on our creation, and here is my submission for today.

I used the MFT stamp set, Beary Special Birthday. For the repetition part of it, I chose to repeat the word " Surprise" which is one of the stamps in the set, stamped in different colors. I decided to use the same colors for the frosting on the cake and candles in the same colors as the greeting, and of course, I had to make it a chocolate cake...lol!

My Favorite Things Summer School 2018: Primary Colors

It's time for summer school at MFT and today's assignment for this first session is to use only primary colors. Here is what I created for this assignment.

For my card I used various stamps from the Lawn Fawn, You're Clawsome, stamp set. I colored my little characters in primary colors using copic markers, and I used one of the dies from the MFT Inside and Out rectangles for my greeting. I had a lot of fun coloring these cute little characters, and can't wait to see what tomorrow's assignment will be. I never thought summer school could be so much fun!
