Card A Day Blog Post: Mother's Day

Hi there, thanks for stopping by. It's time again for another post from me at the Card A Day Blog. This week's theme is Mother's Day. Here is the card I made.

This was a pretty simple card to make actually. I first started off by making several butterflies in blue, yellow and peach using my Cricut, and the Sure Cuts A Lot program. I made each one about 1 inch wide, then ran them all through my Cuttlebug in the Swiss Dots folder to make little embossed polka dots on them. I added two Darice Adhesive Back Acrylic Gems to the middle of them.

For my background image, I used the A2 Butterfly embossing folder from The Paper Studio on a piece of white cardstock cut to 5.25" x 4", then attached it to my card base. I then adhered a piece of peach checkered ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon vertically on the left side of the embossed cardstock, then adhered three butterflies to the ribbon. On the inside I stamped the words Happy Mother's Day using a stamp I had in my collection.

I hope you like my little butterfly card, and I would really love to hear what you think by leaving a comment. Make sure to drop by the Card A Day Blog everyday for some great card making inspiration  For those of you challenge lovers, we also have our monthly challenge, so go check it out.

Marly the Mouse

I just sent off my latest card to my swap partner, Sheryl, at the Paper Crafts Yahoo group. The theme was animals, so when I saw this cute little mouse, Marly, from Poly Craft, I just had to use him for my card.

I printed Marly out an white cardstock, colored him with copic markers, and mounted him on a Spellbinders frame, then added him to the front of my card. I used white rick rack along the right side of the card, and added blue/teal flower Jewel Dazzles to the trim and image.

I sure hope Marly enjoys his trip all the way to Australia, and I hope Sheryl will love him as much as I did.

Card A Day Blog: It's Springtime!

Hi everyone, it's time again for another entry from me for the Card A Day Blog. This weeks theme is " Spring", and I chose to make this card for my post for today.

To make this card, I started off with a 5.5" x 4.25" white card base, then for a background, I chose to use a patterned paper from The Pocket Full Of Posies 8"x8" paper stack from DCWV, cut to 5.25" x 4", then adhered it ( after attaching the ribbon mentioned later ) to the front of the card base.

For my images, I chose the stamp set "It's Springtime" from Woodware Craft Collection. I stamped the three square images and the ladybug on a tulip image on a piece of white cardstock using black ink. To color the images, I used Copic Markers, Y08, Y17, Y38, R05, BG000, Bg10 and BG34. After coloring, I cut the images out, then adhered them using dimensional tape, to Spellbinder die cuts, cut out with the Fleur De Lis Squares smallest (3 cuts) and the next to the smallest die, and inked the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Broken China.

To put it all together, I cut a piece of yellow checkered ribbon, from Really Reasonable Ribbon, long enough to fit my background paper and adhered it to the left side of my patterned paper, before adhering it to my card base, then I attached my smaller images to the top of the ribbon. I then attached my other image to the right of those images. I also stamped the sentiment  " It's Springtime" that also comes with this stamp set, cut it out, inked it with the Broken China ink, then attached it under my largest image.

I hope you enjoyed checking out my latest card, and that you come back again to see what else I've come up with. Be sure to check out the Card A Day Blog each day for some wonderful card inspiration and check out our monthly challenges, where one lucky winner will win a great prize!
