Card A Day Blog Post: Just For Men

This weeks theme for The Card A Day Blog is, "Just For Men," and this is my card that I created. This card will probably find it's way in the box of Operation Write Home cards that I will be sending off soon.

My card was based on a stamp I had from Inkadinkado. Here is how I put it all together.

First I started off with a white 5.5"x4.25" card base. I then added a piece of 5.25"x4" patterned paper from the "The Guy Stack", from "Die Cuts With A View." I wrapped a piece of brown and white baker's twine from one side to the other four times, then spread them apart as seen on the picture, then adhering the ends to the back of the patterned paper. 

On a piece of 1" x 4" dark brown cardstock, I stamped my gears stamp with Versamark, and then used gold embossing powder, applied heat with my heat gun to emboss it. I then adhered that to a piece of 1.25" x 4.25"  medium brown cardstock. I then attacked that to the left hand side of my card over the baker's twine using dimensional tape.

To add a little more to my card I added a metal wheel brad to the right of my gear panel on top of where the baker's twine cross. 

I didn't notice this until I went to post this, but I seemed to have used the same patterned paper and baker's twine that I used on the card for my previous post...lol! I really do like that paper...:-)

Card A Day Blog: Just because

Hi everyone, I'm here with my entry for this week for the Card A Day Blog. This weeks theme is " Just Because".


I got my card idea from the latest sketch from Mojo Monday.

 

To make my card, I first started with a 5.50" x 4.25" card base. I then cut out a piece of solid medium green card stock, just slightly smaller than my card front, and attached it to the front of the card. 


For the larger side panel, I used a piece of lighter green paper cut to 2.25" x 5" and adhered a piece of 2" x 4.75" patterned paper to the top. I then took two pieces of brown and white baker's twine, and wrapped them around the panel length wise, and tied them in a bow about 1.25" below the top of the panel, then I adhered the panel to the left side of of the card.


 I stamped my sentiment on a piece of the darker green paper with Tim Holtz Distress Ink, aged mahogany, cut it out, and attached it so just the end of it is sticking up under the baker's twine.


For my little squares to the right side of the card, I cut out 3, 1.25" squares of the light green card stock, and inked the edges with green ink. On the top of the squares, I used the flower shaped Spellbinders Ribbon Buckles die, cut out with the darker green card stock, laced some of the brown and white baker's twine, and wrapped it around the squares. I used dimensional tape to mount the squares to the right side of the card.

Card A Day Blog Entry: Red, White, and Blue

The theme this week at the Card A Day Blog is Red, White, and Blue, and here is my entry, inspired by Mojo Monday designer, Debbie Carriere. Here is my take on her creation.

How I made my card:

First, I started off with a 5.5"x4.25" white card base,then I added a piece of red and white striped patterned paper, 5.25"x4" to the front of the card. I then cut out a piece of white card stock, 4.75"x2.25", and attached it on top of a piece of blue and white star patterned paper that measures 5.25"x2.75", I then attached that to my red and white striped paper.

For embellishments, I made four banners using the same star patterned paper that I used for the mat, placed them going in alternating directions, and then added a red button with a piece of red and white baker's twine tied into it, and placed them on the ends of the banners.

For my sentiment, I stamped the words " Thank You" on a piece of white card stock, cut around it, then added it to a mat using the same star patterned paper. I place it at the bottom of my card in the middle.

This card will be sent with my next shipment of cards to Operation Write Home, and be used for an Any Hero Card.

Card A Day Blog Entry: Friendship

Hi everyone, here I am again with another entry for the Card A Day Blog. This months theme is " Friendship".

How I made my card: 

First, I started off with a 5.5" x 4.25" card base. I then cut a piece of patterned paper from the Bo Bunny Alora collection paper pack 5.25"x4", and attached it to my card base. I then cut out a piece of patterned paper from the Die Cut With A View Mariposa paper pack, 2.25"x5.25" and adhered it to the middle of my card on top of my first patterned paper.

The bird is from a stamp set from "ditto", which I purchased from a recent trip to Micheal's. I really thought this bird looked real neat, and it also came with a coordinating heart stamp. I stamped the bird image on a piece of white card stock, and colored it with 3 different Copic markers in the R and RV families. I can't remember which ones exactly, because I decided to clean up my craft area before I wrote this post, and put away all the markers I had been using. I guess that will teach me for cleaning up....lol!

I cut out my stamped image and placed it on the left side of the strip of Mariposa paper. I added an eye for my bird with a Viva Decor, Holo Iridescent glitter liner . For my sentiment, I used two stamps from the Woodware, Thank You 4, stamp sets. I like this set, because they have little sentence strips, one that says, Thank you for..., then several others that could be used to finish the sentence for several different occasions. I stamped next to the bird on the left, Thank you for..., then on the inside, " being such a good friend". I also added lace across the top and bottom of the Mariposa paper, that I purchased from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Card a Day Blog: Happy Birthday!

Here is my entry for the Card A Day Blog for today. The theme this week is birthday, and here is what I created.

To create my card, I started off with a 5.5"x4.25" white card base. For my card front, I added a piece of peach colored card stock, with the edges inked with pink. The patterned paper that I used to add my image to was from the Mariposa Stack by Die Cut With A View, cut at 4.5"x 2.75" and matted with a piece of  black card stock, 4.75"x3". 

The stamp that I used for my image was from a set I bought used, and since it was not in it's original packaging,  I'm not sure who made it, but if anyone recognizes it, and you know who made it, please let me know. It came with other bird images on the sheet. I stamped my image using clear Versa Mark watermark stamp pad, then I used black embossing powder to create my embossed effect. For the sentiment, I used the words Happy Birthday , from the Woodware stamp set, Pretty labels, also stamped with Versa Mark, and black embossing powder.

I thought it could use a little something more, so I added a piece of lace trim along the edge of the patterned paper, and a string of clear beads along the top of that. OK, I'll confess, I got a little glob of embossing powder stuck to the edge, and I needed something to cover it up with...lol! But I think it worked out pretty good.

Card A Day Blog Post: Operation Write Home Any Hero Thank You Card

Here is my second of three entries I'm scheduled for, for the Card A Day Blog, this month. This weeks theme is " Thank You", and I chose to post a card I made for Operation Write Home, to be used as an Any Hero card.

To make my card, I started off with a 5.5 x 4.25 inch white card base, and since I am using it for an Any Hero Card, I usually like to use red, white and blue, so I decided to use a red white and blue striped paper that I had on hand. I cut the striped paper, 5.25 x 4 inches, and adhered it to the front of my card base.

For my embellishment, I decided to combine three different Spellbinder die cuts from three different sets. The first was from the Pecot Edge Circles, I used the second largest, and with my Cuttlebug,  I cut that one out in red. My second layer, I chose The Lacey Circles set, and used the next to the smallest die, and cut that one out in white. For the third cut, I used a die from the Moroccan Motifs set, and I used the next to the smallest die, and cut it out in blue. I stacked my white cut on top of the red one using a pop dot, then added my blue die on top of the white, and added a blue rhinestone to the center, then adhered it to the left side of my card.

For my sentiment, I stamped the words " Thank You" from one of the stamp sets I have, then matted it in blue, and then in white, and attached it to the bottom right side of my card.

Card A Day Blog post: Happy Father's Day

It's my turn again to post on the Card A Day Blog, and this weeks theme is Father's Day. The card I'm entering is a card I made a while ago for Operation Write Home.

Material used for my card are:

• A piece of white card stock, 8.5" x 5.5", folded in half, for card base.
• 4" x 5.25" piece of patterned paper.
• 3.25" x 4" piece of green card stock for mat.
• Digital stamp from Digi Stamps Boutique.
• Copic Markers.

I started off by printing my image on white card stock, then colored it with Copic markers. Since I made my card a while back, I don't remember what color Copic markers I used, all I can remember is that I used various browns, greens, black, and grays. I matted my colored image on green card stock, and then attached that on my patterned paper, that was attached to my card base. I didn't have any Father's Day sentiments either stamps or digis that would work well, so I printed the words Happy Father's Day in green, using my computer. I cut it to size, then inked the edges with brown ink, to make it stand out.
